World Series Final Game Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling 11-inning contest that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a total over 50 million viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a 16% improvement over the last finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game averaged 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The full seven-match World Series recorded 15.71M viewers on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete US average reached 16.1 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million watchers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and Fox’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
