Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outperformed his teammate at all of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team opted for a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the gravel trap, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
