In a unexpected crossover event that defies traditional predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Revealed

According to the formal statement, "An unusual meeting leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of banned practices and fearsome changes resonate through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret sect.

The adventure focuses on "bizarre trials and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Transformations

The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Bonus Content

Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
